The mountain weasel is referred to as “fragrant weasel” in Chinese because the animal secretes scented liquids and thus has a natural body fragrance.

Endemic to China, the mountain weasel lives on the grasslands of northwest China’s Qinghai Province, where the slender animal commandeers quite a number of readymade residences from its favorite prey: the pika.
