A unique scene unfolded at the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area in Dunhuang, northwest China’s Gansu Province when the “camel green light” was turned on: camels crossed the road in an orderly manner.

As Dunhuang enters the peak tourist season, the number of visitors continues to rise. To manage the occasional traffic jams at two points where camel routes intersect with tourist trails, the scenic area has installed special traffic lights for camels. When the red light is on, the camels wait patiently in line, allowing pedestrians and shuttle buses to pass. When the light turns green, it’s time for everyone to make way for the camels. This practical and charming design adds a touch of unique fun to the experience.
