On September 3, during Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s trip to China for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and his state visit, China Media Group (CMG) President Shen Haixiong and Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar signed two memoranda of cooperation in Beijing. They are the Memorandum of Understanding between China Media Group and Nigeria’s National Television Authority (NTA) and the Memorandum of Understanding between CMG and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

In recent years, the friendly exchanges between CMG and the two Nigerian organizations have been continuously strengthened. To further consolidate the mainstream media cooperation between China and Nigeria as well as friendship between the two peoples, relevant parties have agreed to carry out practical cooperation in content exchange, joint program production as well as personnel and technical exchanges, expanding channels for cultural exchange and contributing to greater development of bilateral ties.

NTA is Nigeria’s official state broadcaster, operating 10 television channels, including general content, news, entertainment and international channels, with coverage across the entire country. FRCN is the national radio broadcaster, with FM stations covering 36 states of Nigeria and regional radio services in six major regional centers.
