China’s rich cultural diversity and ethnic unity were showcased at a gala for the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities in Sanya, a city in southern Hainan Province.

Athletes and visitors were given a chance to immerse themselves in China’s diverse cultures. Alongside captivating performances, participants engaged in interactive games and exchanged gifts, celebrating the vibrancy of different ethnic traditions.

The National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities, held every four years since its inception in 1953, is primarily focused on mass sports activities. Therefore, the participants are mainly non-professional athletes.

Unlike modern sporting events, it features competitions rooted in traditional customs and the daily lives of people from different ethnic groups in China. The Games runs from November 22 to 30.
