China and Japan on Saturday expressed their willingness to further deepen cooperation in the energy conservation and environmental protection industries.

The two sides made the announcement at the 17th China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection in Tokyo, Japan. 

The forum was jointly hosted by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Ministry of Commerce, along with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan-China Economic Association.

At the forum, Zhao Chenxin, vice-chairman of NDRC, stated that China is actively promoting ecological civilization and accelerating green, low-carbon development, achieving significant results. 

He emphasized that China will continue to enhance its ecological framework, advance cooperation on green and low-carbon technologies and strengthen environmental protection and governance.

Both China and Japan said they will jointly advance global and regional green, low-carbon development. During the forum, over 800 participants from both countries engaged in in-depth discussions, held five sub-forums and signed 27 cooperation agreements.

The forum is a key international cooperation platform that has been successfully held 17 times since 2006. The forum aims to promote collaboration between China and Japan in energy conservation, environmental protection and green development, with a total of 457 cooperation projects signed to date.
