A creative seminar involving China Media Group’s (CMG) large-scale cultural program “Exploring China Through Bamboo and Wooden Slips,” was held in Beijing on August 15.
Shen Haixiong, President of CMG, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the driving force behind the creation of the program: China’s unique and continuous process of civilization. CMG has pioneered the contemporary use of bamboo and wooden slips — ancient Chinese writing formats that predate the invention of paper — to reflect on their historical value and profound significance.
The program aims to rejuvenate interest in these ancient artifacts, creating a new way to “rewrite” the history of civilization and bridge the ancient with the modern, ensuring the continuous renewal of Chinese culture.
“Exploring China Through Bamboo and Wooden Slips” is the first program of its kind to focus exclusively on these artifacts. It features innovative formats such as on-site visits, live-action dramas and interviews. Through the story of representative slips, the show explores the multifaceted value of these artifacts and highlights the depth and richness of Chinese civilization.
Experts, scholars, and media representatives engaged in discussions at the seminar about the show’s concept, innovative practices, and social significance, offering valuable insights to advance the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional Chinese culture.
